Checklist

Documents checklist: what aid forms usually ask about

Having the records in one place makes the forms much shorter. Here is what people commonly gather.

The short version

  1. Gather records before you sit down to fill anything in.
  2. Keep sensitive documents private and never email them to unknown services.
  3. The official forms explain exactly what applies to you.

Identity and accounts

  • Each person’s StudentAid.gov account login (kept private).
  • Social Security number, kept private and entered only on the official form.
  • Driver’s license number if the form asks for it.

Income records

  • Federal tax returns for the year the form asks about.
  • W-2 forms and records of other income.
  • Records of untaxed income, if any.

Other records

  • Current balances of cash, savings and checking accounts.
  • Records of investments, if any.
  • A list of schools you want to receive your information.

A safety note

Syllabra never asks for these documents. Keep them for your own use and enter them only on official forms.

Syllabra is an information website, not a school, college, lender, scholarship service, or government agency. It does not award or administer grants, take aid applications, offer or arrange loans, match you with schools or programs, or share your details with schools, lenders, or other partners. Nothing here is financial, legal, or admissions advice.

One more thing to tick off.
