Checklist

Reviewing an aid offer: a short checklist

An offer is easier to read with a list beside it. Tick each box before you decide.

The short version

  1. Separate grants from other items.
  2. Work out the cost left after grants.
  3. Ask about renewal rules.

Tick each box

  • I found the cost of attendance.
  • I listed each grant and scholarship.
  • I listed anything else separately and asked what it is.
  • I worked out the remaining cost.
  • I know whether each grant renews.

Comparing schools

Lay out offers side by side using the same headings. Formats differ, so rewrite them in your own table.

Changes in circumstances

If your family situation has changed since the forms were filed, ask the aid office whether it has a process to review that.

Questions to ask

  • Are any of these amounts estimates?
  • When will the offer be final?
  • Who do I contact with questions?

Syllabra is an information website, not a school, college, lender, scholarship service, or government agency. It does not award or administer grants, take aid applications, offer or arrange loans, match you with schools or programs, or share your details with schools, lenders, or other partners. Nothing here is financial, legal, or admissions advice.

One more thing to tick off.
